Primary Use Cases:
1. Wall Plastering:
Used to prepare smooth, level wall and ceiling surfaces before painting. Gypsum plaster sets quickly, eliminates shrinkage cracks, and provides a superior finish compared to traditional sand-cement plaster.
2. Cement Additive:
Acts as a setting time regulator in Portland cement. It prevents flash setting and improves workability and strength in concrete applications.
3. Ceiling Tiles & Molds:
Ideal for making decorative false ceilings, cornices, and architectural molds. Gypsum powder is lightweight, easy to cast, and provides crisp, clean detailing.
4. Drywall Production:
A primary component in the core of gypsum boards, providing natural fire resistance and acoustic insulation in modern construction.
5. Agriculture Use:
Improves soil structure, adds essential calcium and sulfur, and reduces soil compaction. Gypsum is commonly used to reclaim saline and sodic soils.
